The Bombay High Court on Thursday issued guidelines for effective compliance with the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) so as to ensure victim's participation in various stages of the judicial process.
The Court noted that the inconsistencies in the victim's statement to the police, and it would be highly unsafe to convict the appellant solely on the basis of the testimony of the victim.
The Uttar Pradesh government has requested the Allahabad High Court to ensure disposal of cases related to crimes against women and the POCSO Act on a priority basis.
