Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Arvind Singh Sangwan has asked for listing before some other bench the petition filed in connection with the Ranjit Singh murder case allegedly involving Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The Punjab & Haryana High Court has a sanctioned strength of 85 Judges (64 Permanent Judges and 21 Additional Judges) which is the common High Court of the Indian state of Punjab and Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh based in Chandigarh, India.
The petition filed in Supreme Court said that the Punjab & Haryana High Court violated the mandatory and binding direction of the Supreme Court and Rules 9 to 11 of the Rules framed by the High Court pursuant to the Indira Jaising case.
The young couple submitted in the High Court that they wanted to get married shortly but suspected that their lives are in danger in hands of woman’s family.
The present petition has been filed by AOR Sunil Fernandes challenging the order passed by the High court of Punjab & Haryana at Chandigarh who had rejected the bail filed under 439 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
In earlier hearing, the petitioner submitted that there is a complete chaos created because of the deadly situation arising out of the spread of coronavirus as COVID19 guidelines are not being followed in the region.
