In recent times, forest staff are increasingly facing hostile elements, poachers and lawbreakers, who are committing forest offences with impunity. Officers and staff are being brutally assaulted while performing their duties. The Supreme Court has now stepped in.

Karnataka High Court while hearing the petition observed that the State SC/ST Commission could not have directed the petitioner to regularize the services of the second respondent as Principal of Morarji Desai Residential School Arakeri  since the  Commission is not conferred with the Adjudicatory Power under the Karnataka State Commission for SC /ST Act, 2002. 

During the investigation, the petitioner and the co-accused were apprehended on May 28, 2020, and they admitted their involvement in the homicide in their disclosure statement.
