The PIL in Madhya Pradesh High Court sought direction to take appropriate action against the private coaching classes which are run in the State illegally without providing any facilities and charging fees as per their choice by giving captious advertisement.
The Supreme Court today has issued notice and stayed the Calcutta High Court order by which it had directed the School Education Department, West Bengal to make payment of salaries to part-time teachers equal to basic pay in scale of pay of regular teacher working in Higher Secondary Section in a non–government Aided Higher Secondary School with effect from 28th July 2010 i.e the date of order till 24.12.2013.
The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the state of Madhya Pradesh to prepare and publish on its website, a report of the schools that had complied or not complied with the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court dated November 4, 2020, whereby the schools had been directed to charge only tuition fee, given the closure of schools during the pandemic and the interests of the employees who had to be paid salaries.
It was submitted by Counsel for the petitioner DP Singh that the father of the petitioner – Late Balram Singh Tomar was an employee of the School Education Department, posted as a Music teacher.
