The Supreme Court on Tuesday listed a petition challenging the designation of Advocates as ‘Senior’ under Sections 16 and 23(5) of the Advocates Act, 1961, for hearing on March 20
The decision was taken at a meeting of the full Supreme Court. A letter has been addressed regarding the same by the secretary of the Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates to the Registrar Generals of all High Courts, Secretary Bar Council of India, and Secretaries of all State Bar Councils.
The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of eight judges and a senior advocate, including three women judges, to be appointed as judges in the Apex Court.
