Former JNU student Sharjeel Imam, who has been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for allegedly giving inflammatory speeches at Aligarh Muslim University and Delhi’s Jamia area, has filed a petition in Delhi High Court.
A Delhi court on Thursday granted bail to Jawaharlal Nehru University student Sharjeel Imam in a case pertaining to the violence that occurred on the December 13 and 14, 2019 in Jamia Millia Islamia. Imam was arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He was also among the several activists accused under UAPA registered by the Delhi Police in the Delhi Riots of 2020.
JNU student Sharjeel Imam, arrested for allegedly making inflammatory speeches during the protests against CAA, told a Delhi court on Monday that he cannot be hammered with sedition as his speeches did not call for violence.
