The Uttarakhand High Court on March 23 disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking direction to the respondent State to notify the Rules under Anand Marriage Act, 1909 and also to issue guidelines to register the marriage of people of Sikh Community under the Anand Marriage Act, 1909.
A petition has been moved in the Supreme Court against actor Kangana Ranaut's outbursts against the Sikh community over protests against the now-repealed three farm laws. The petitioner, Advocate Sardar Charanjeet Singh Chanderpal, sought directives to all social media companies to curtail or censor or delete Ranaut's statements made against Sikhs given the vast number of Sikhs in the farm laws protest.
Mumbai Police has booked Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut for putting objectionable posts on her Instagram profile allegedly linking the Sikh community to Khalistanis. The actor had put out the post when farmers protesting the now to-be-repealed farm laws comprised a vast majority of Sikh farmers from Punjab and elsewhere.
The petitioners are oppressed by the publicity of hate news spewn by some TV news channels over social networking sites with the sole purpose of spreading hate against the entire Sikh community.
The Delhi High Court has issued a notice in two public interest litigations filed against Aaj Tak, alleging that the channel misreported on the farmers' protest held on Republic Day.
