A Manipur High Court division bench was informed that the Government of India was considering enactment of a comprehensive law relating to refugees but pending such enactment, a Standard Operating Procedure was floated on 29.12.2011 to deal with foreign nationals who were claiming the status of refugees.
In view of the matter, the grievance of the petitioners in these two cases stands settled , the Manipur High Court division bench closed the PILs filed in the context of a contagious disease that fatally afflicted cattle in the State of Manipur.
The PIL in Manipur High Court has been filed by Thongam Sanajaoba Singh and others. The State of Manipur and its Director, Municipal Administration, Housing &. Urban Development (MAHUD), filed Miscellaneous Case of PIL raising the issue of maintainability of the case.
The Supreme Court division bench after hearing the Sr Advocate Prashant Bhushan and Tushar Mehta ordered the petitioner to issue a public notice in at least two local newspaper returnable on 18 August.
