The state government questioned the independence of the CBI, contending agency was acting at the behest of the centre and was targeting leaders and workers of the ruling TMC. The State of West Bengal had moved the Apex Court against the order passed by the Calcutta High Court on August 19, 2021.
The Supreme Court today has refused to issue any interim order in the original suit filed by the State of West Bengal against Union of India raising the issue of continuous registration of FIRs by the CBI in the state despite the fact that the State Government has withdrawn the permission 3 years back in this regard.
Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra appearing for the State of West Bengal apprised the court that the FIR registered in this case and three people have been arrested on the basis of these complaints.
