For achieving sustainable development, various treaties, conventions, and agreements were signed between the nations to date since Stockholm Declaration, 1972. 

The COVID-19 pandemic has unleashed an unprecedented crisis, causing further disruption to progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goals, with the world’s poorest and most vulnerable affected the most.

The Supreme Court today has constituted a seven-member expert committee to develop a scientific and policy guidelines to govern policy decisions with respect to cutting of trees for developmental projects while stating it is essential to strike right balance between environmental conservation and sustainable development.
