The Allahabad High Court has granted an anticipatory bail to the former Union Minister Swami Chinmayanand, who is accused in raping a law student from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh in 2011
A Lucknow Special Court has acquitted former Union Minister and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand on charges of sexually harassing a law student, after all witnesses in the case turned hostile.
The Covid-19 pandemic posed an arduous challenge to the judiciary. Even as it struggled to ensure regular functioning, it managed to give some important judgments.
This comes as a big relief for Chinmayanand who was arrested last year in September after the law student accused him of sexually exploiting her. Swami was arrested from his ashram by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and UP police.
