The Delhi High Court on Wednesday adjourned an appeal preferred by the Delhi Government against the Single Judge High Court Order ruling the statement made by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to pay the rent of any tenant who is unable to pay the rent due to poverty.
The Supreme Court of India has imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on a tenant and directed him to pay the rent of 11 years on the basis of market rate to the landlord within three months.
Supreme Court bench of Justices UU Lalit, Indu Malhotra & AS Bopanna while dismissing the appeals observed that “In the premises, we accept the construction put by the Division Bench on the provisions that fell for consideration. The challenge to the view taken by the Division Bench must, therefore.
