The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition as withdrawn, filed by Arjuna awardee and former Para-Badminton World Champion Raj Kumar, seeking direction to include his name, along with Parul Dalsukhbhai Parmar, for mixed doubles SL 3- SU 5 event, Badminton at the upcoming Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020.
The petition said the Selection Committee of Paralympic Committee of India and the Badminton Association of India selected Indian pair rank 31 over Indian pair rank 6 of Raj Kumar and Parul Dalsukhbhai Parmar, causing grave injustice to Kumar by denying him the opportunity to represent his country
The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) to recommend the name of five-time Paralympian Naresh Sharma as an additional participant in the 50 meter parashooting event in Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020, starting from August 24.
Five-time Paralympian shooter Naresh Kumar Sharma has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court order against his arbitrary non-selection for the Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020. The petitioner has challenged the Delhi HC order saying it didn't take into account the urgency of the matter.
