Uttar Pradesh gangster Atiq Ahmed and two others were sentenced to life imprisonment in the Umesh Pal kidnapping case. Seven others accused in the case, including Atiq’s brother Ashraf Ahmed, were acquitted by the Prayagraj court.
The Delhi High Court reversed the trial court verdict on Sharjeel Imam and others in the Jamia violence case. The acquittal of Imam and Safoora Zargar was set aside and charges were framed against 9 of the 11 accused.
On strikes by lawyers, the Supreme Court said if the bar councils did not show haste in stopping the strike, then there would be no option left except to impose punishment on the agitating lawyers.
In the Gyanvapi case, the Supreme Court agreed to list the petition seeking to have all cases to be heard in one place on April 21.
