The Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim protection to Congress leader Pawan Khera, who was arrested by Assam Police in Delhi, for his controversial statements against PM Narendra Modi. The Apex Court instructed Delhi’s Dwarka court to grant him protection from arrest upon his production before it.
The Supreme Court ruled in favour of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palaniswamy and allowed him to continue as the AIADMK’s Interim General Secretary. By the upholding of the Madras High Court decision, the verdict is seen as a blow to his rival, former CM O.Panneerselvam.
The Supreme Court said despite orders, CCTVs have not been set up in police stations. The Apex Court warned the Centre and the states on not fulfilling the requirement.
