Six lawyers of the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday have filed a PIL demanding a CBI inquiry into the death of former Senior Vice President of the High Court Bar Association, Mangala Prasad Tripathi.
In the petition, the lawyers have called the action of Prayagraj police suspicious. Along with this, there has also been a demand for suspension of the DM and the SSP for doing illegal acts.
The petition has been filed on behalf of High Court advocates Gaurav Dwivedi, Rajnish Singh, O.P. Singh and three other lawyers. It is said that after Tripathi was not traced by the family members themselves on January 5, 2022, they lodged a missing report at Colonel Ganj police station, Prayagraj.

On January 7, the police called the family members and showed his unclaimed clothes. On being told that the clothes belonged to him, the police said that Tripathi had died. The police said they had cremated him since the body was unclaimed.
It was said in the petition that the police neither tried to find out about the deceased before performing the cremation nor did they follow the guidelines set in such cases. It has been said that the story of the police regarding the death is suspicious.
