The Delhi High Court on Friday (August 31) suspended ban for one month on restrictions/prohibition of manufacturing and sale of Oxytocin which were to come in effect from Sept 1 through Centre notification.

The bench comprising Justices Ravindra Bhatt and AK Chawla said that they had prima facie evidence for the suspension of the ban for one month.

The bench was acting on a PIL filed by All India Drug Action Network seeking to quash the notifications restraining the import, manufacture, sale and distribution of Oxytocin and its formulations used in treatment of women in delivery and affecting the health of millions of women in India, inter alia, by enforcing the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the 1945 Rules there under.
