Punjab and Haryana High Court disposes of PIL regarding movement of stray animals on roads in Mohali

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging uncontrolled movement of stray animals on roads in the city of Mohali, Punjab.

The PIL has been filed by one Sunil Kumar.

G.K. Mann, senior counsel for the petitioner, submitted that the petitioner has already filed a representation in this regard before the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar, Mohali on July 21, 2022, but no action has been taken thereon till date by the authorities.

Avinit Avasthi, Assistant Advocate General, appearing for the respondent-State of Punjab, on advance copy, submitted that the competent authority shall look into the matter and if so required, it will take necessary action in accordance with law.

In view of the statement made by the Assistant Advocate General, Punjab and taking the same on record, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and Justice Arun Pallui disposed of the petition.
