With I&B ministry report of having cautioned Sudarshan TV, Supreme Court postpones hearing by 2 weeks

New Delhi (ILNS): The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has informed the Supreme Court that it has issued an order of ‘Caution’ against Sudarshan TV for its UPSC jihad show as it portrayed one community and UPSC in poor light. The case was supposed to come up before the Supreme Court bench of Justices D. Y. Chandrachud, Indu Malhotra and Indira Banerjee. The matter has been postponed by two weeks.

The Centre’s affidavit in the top court states that the utterances and videos used were in bad taste.

The Ministry has also directed SudarshanTV to moderate its content suitably and submit its compliance before going ahead with the remaining four episodes. Ministry’s order is subject to what the SC finally decides on this matter.

On October 5, the Union government had informed the apex court that the Inter-Ministerial Committee, in its recommendation, has given certain additional recommendations in connection with Sudarshan TV’s programme ‘UPSC Jihad’.
