Madras HC directs Computer Teacher appointment from 116 out of 119 test centers, appoints retired judge N. Authinathan to conduct inquiry on remaining 3

The Madras High Court has directed the authorities to continue with the appointment of Computer Teachers from 116 examination centers out of 119 and has appointed retired Judge of Madras HC, Justice N Authinathan (Retd.) to conduct a thorough enquiry.

A single judge bench of Justice V Parthiban while hearing the petition through video conferencing noted that “corrective measures are required to be initiated and completed by an impartial inquiry to allay the residuary apprehensions of some of the unsuccessful and aggrieved candidates.”

The bench was hearing a bunch of petitions alleging irregularities in the examination at some centres including server issues, no CCTV cameras, candidates allowed to carry mobile phones, candidates allowed to complete the examination in fact, in excess of 3 hours duration of the examination, etc.

The bench penned down in its order that “The hope as defined by Greek philosopher Aristotle is a ‘A Waking Dream’ and therefore, the Dream of the selected candidates must not be allowed to remain as dream but must be allowed to be transformed into reality.”

The bench directed that “leaving aside three centres, the respondents are at liberty to go ahead with the appointments of the selected candidates from other centres and in that process, they should ensure that none of the candidates from the disputed three centres should be favoured with the appointments.”

In connection to 3 centers the bench noted that-

“Court is of the view that corrective measures is required to be initiated and completed by an impartial enquiry mechanism to allay the residuary apprehensions of some of the unsuccessful and aggrieved candidates.”

The concerned 3 centres are:

1. KSR College of Engineering, Tiruchengode, Namakkal District.

2. Annai College of Engineering & Technology, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur District.

3. Kongunadu College of Engineering & Technology, Thiruchirappalli District.
