The Allahabad High Court has recently issued notice and sought counter-affidavit from the Uttar Pradesh Government on a plea filed against the contentious statements of Waseem Rizvi, who is now known as Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi after his conversion, at a Dharam Sansad in Haridwar. He was the former chairman of the Shia Waqf Board.
The petitioner, Mumbai-based organization Khwaja Garib Nawaz Welfare Association says that Prophet Mohammad and the holy book Quran should not be brought into politics. Wasim Rizvi has been continuously making controversial statements regarding religion which spoils the atmosphere.
